Paid Games Mastering
During the Covid-19 lockdown I planned, organised and delivered interactive tabletop roleplaying games online, which I have been successfully running multiple games a week as a form of income. Running the games to the high quality my players expect requires a lot of preparation and creative energy. For my games I often create custom battle maps using software called DungeonDraft.
Whenever I design a map I always think hard about the sort of encounter I want to make out of it as well as what the location represents and is used for in day to day life. Is it a stealth map where the players are tasks to break into a location and steal something? Or is it a combat encounter in which case, what's interesting about this area that will add something unique to the combat encounter? How do I make something fun, balanced and engaging for the players. A lot of consideration, time and effort goes into each map and each encounter as each obstacle the players are faced with provides drama and conflict. This can lead to some great character moments. I as a Gamemaster always attempt to make my player's plans work if it's a good plan it will likely work. And I've had players exclaim how fun it was for their in-game plans to work, with only a few complications they had to solve on the fly.
